The New Ambassador of Finland presents her Credentials to the President of Kosovo

The Ambassador of Finland, Ms. Pia Stjernvall presented her Letter of Credentials to the President of the Republic of Kosovo, H.E. Hashim Thaci.

President Thaci congratulated Ambassador Stjernvall on the new assignment stating that Finland was among the first countries to recognize Kosovo’s independence and Kosovo is grateful for the support Finland gave before and after the independence.


Ambassador Stjernvall congratulated President Thaci on 10th anniversary of Kosovo’s independence adding that Finland is a good friend of Kosovo and that it will continue supporting Kosovo towards its European path.


Ambassador Stjernvall highlighted topics that are of common interest for the two countries such as peace, security and human rights. President Thaci offered Ambassador Stjernvall his full support in strengthening bilateral co-operation between the two countries.


Prior to this position Ms. Stjernvall worked as an Ambassador for Civilian Crises Management at the Finnish MFA. Her previous postings were Head of Mission for EUPOL Afghanistan (before that being the Deputy Head of Mission and the Acting Head of Mission). Ms. Stjernvall has previously been the Special Representative for International Dialogue on Peacebuilding and State-building (IDPS) at the MFA Finland and the Coordinator for Mediation at the MFA. Ambassador also has served i.a. as Charge d’Affaires at the Embassy of Finland in Kabul and as Finland’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT) in Kenya.
